We Created Tent Abroad Because We Got Tired of Pretty Pictures
We are a small independent team that loves real camping. After years of traveling and camping in different countries we noticed the same problem, most websites only show beautiful photos and lists of campsites. But they rarely tell you what camping actually feels like in that country.
So we decided to build something different.
We started Tent Abroad in 2025 after a frustrating trip to Iceland. We arrived expecting total freedom like in Norway, but quickly discovered that wild camping there is heavily restricted and the weather demands serious preparation. That experience made us realize how valuable honest information can be.
Since then we have been researching and camping in many countries ourselves. Not as professionals with huge budgets, but as regular campers who carry their own tents, cook on small stoves and sometimes get caught in the rain. This real experience shapes every guide we write.
What We Stand For
To help travelers understand what kind of camping experience is truly possible in each country before they go. We believe that knowing the reality helps you choose the right destination, pack better and enjoy your trip more.
